Some weekend updates. Got the tail attached, completing the fuselage. I scored/embossed the rudder and trim tab for the illusion of a separate piece. She's 5 1/8" long now, and will be just shy of 5 1/2" with the spinner on. Holds up to scale calculation for 1:72 scale.
Next, since I already committed to wheel wells, I began designing some replacement parts. First up, the front wheel wells. Combined the well portion from the two wing pieces and extended the graphics to the sidewalls. Simple yet effective. It's not perfectly accurate (the rear wall should be along the wingspar, but again, this is just for a hint more and for fun.
Then came the scary part. Had to slice into my freshly completed fuselage. But with a fresh blade (Thanks Shrike!) and an attitude of "It's only a model" (can anyone name that Monty Python movie?), I went for it.
A little rough but it'll be covered with the wells and wing skins. And here we are with some dry fitting.
I'll wait until I'm ready to attach the wing skins before attaching them. I have a feeling that the front edge of each well out near the spar will need to be trimmed to fit. But it's a promising start. No turning back now. Good night all!
