Using the suggestion in the link above where they apply curled strips of putty then paint another color, I wonder if you could do the same with the RR paper. Build the part shiny, then cover with pieces of putty, and hit with a light coat of flat gray spraypaint or simply a matte spray to give some flat and some shiny areas. Just a thought.
