USS Montauk (1898 version)

I have been working on this project for a while, but it has finally reached the top of the stack after being buried under Canonicus and Onondaga. I am working on designing the Passaic class monitor Montauk as she appeared during the Spanish-American war. All of the surviving Passaic class ships were reactivated in 1898 for service. The mostly carried out coastal patrol duties. As part of the reactivation, they were fitted with a large hurricane deck behind the turret as well as being fitted with new davits, boats and a couple of new deck structures. The decks were also covered with teak. This kit is basically all new, components of the turret and hull were used, but everything else is new. The hull has a new frame, since the hurricane deck caused the stern to sink significantly. Already low in freeboard, the stern was now awash even in the calmest waters! :o
