Sorry to hear of your illness Zathros. My daughter has been fighting so-called chronic Lyme disease (actually bartonella) for 10+ years now. I hope you will be one of the lucky ones who are able to defeat it. Levaquin is an interesting antibiotic choice. 100mg 2X daily of doxycyline for 3-4 weeks is the traditional treatment - although we've had experience with Levaquin too. Deer ticks often carry a number of co-infections that are potentially much harder to treat/cure than borrelia burgdefori (Lyme). Bartonella being one of the worst - with that one you just don't get better after antibiotic therapy, IV or oral - not for very long at least. If you were only tested for Lyme antibodies, I'd recommend you insist on getting a "full panel". This will check for all of the known co-infections - bartonella, babesia, erlichiosis, etc, etc. We found out much later that my daughter had a particulary nasty tick with Lyme and 4 co-infections. Miscellaneous Links On Lyme Disease Hopefully you won't be needing them. Lymealliance and Lymenet will provide you with reliable information from Lyme literate doctors and actual sufferers, untainted by pressure from the medical insurance industry (insurance companies hate to pay for care for extended chronic illnesses and are known to really bring the hammer down on Drs who treat the disease too aggressively). It's hard to find one who will stand up to the pressure and fight the good fight for their patients. Best of luck to you, and I hope you are feeling better soon.
