I learn all kinds of interesting things here in the forums. Who knew there was that much going on behind the scenes just for hood decals?

Thanks for sharing that Dave. Little tidbits like that help to train my eye for detail when examining reference photos.

You do know that the '82 did not have the big Firebird hood decal?
And the decal you used on this model is the shaker hood style decal.

There is a redesigned bird that fits the Turbo hood.
When the '81 model came out with the Turbo,
and a new teardrop hood bulge (instead of the shaker scoop),
it also came with a new Firebird decal that fit around the bulge.
It was distinct that it had a large flame coming from the bird's beak.

Anyway, the turbo style hood was carried over to the '82 model,
but not the large hood decal.
Instead they just used the small nose decal.

I guess you could claim a "custom" hood...but its not factory.
Still, a nice looking model. Well done.
