"No dance tonight..."

Yes, gentlemen, our good member thokamous has correctly identified the source of my 'little' project.

This particular bout of insanity has actually been brewing since 1985, when I picked up the FASA 15mm deck plans of both the USS Enterprise *and* the Klingon D-7 class cruiser for... ready? A measly $3 total.

I immediately recognized the potential of these blueprints, but at the time did not have either the materials or the modeling skill to realize the project. So, they hung on my wall as decoration for at least a decade before being carefully packed away (yes, I still have the original boxes for both).

It was about halfway through the 'Big G' build that I realized that I had successfully developed the techniques I needed to bring this long-shelved dream to fruition; and being a bit burned out on the BSG universe (I had planned to follow up with a large scale Cylon Basestar) decided to get out the old FASA blueprints and start what will likely be my ultimate project... a deck by deck reconstruction of a Constitution Class starship.

My plan is to have each deck layer fit seamlessly with the others and if possible be removable so that one could literally (provided anyone still plays FASA games) utilize the model as a gameboard. Also, I will be fitting each deck with the appropriate accoutraments: tables, chairs, consoles, transporter pads, shuttles... all to scale as per the FASA blueprints.

It will be lit as well, obviously.

Considering that Deck 24 (Hull Bottom), the first piece shown, is *over* 18 inches... I estimate that the saucer section will easily be 1 meter (3 feet plus).
I am uncertain of the actual size of the studio model, but once again I think I'm pushing pretty darn close.

So, in short, my insanity has only grown since the Galactica Build... and I know this build will prove to have some challenging engineering problems to solve.

But, as a wise Vulcan once said:

"Logic is a little bird tweeting in a meadow; logic is a wreath of pretty flowers which... smell bad..."
