I have been thinking of doing a lot of redraw/redesign work on
both the P-47 Thunderbolt, and B-24 Liberator kits.
So, while waiting to get back to my Centurion Tank project,
I have been fiddling around with the P-47 model on my laptop.
Not only will I redraw the model and create some new liveries,
the updated model will hopefully have:
-fully recessed wheel wells
-redesigned wing spars
-newly designed Landing gear
-boxed Tail Gear well
-newly designed Tail Gear
-redesigned engine components
-full cockpit
I've got the Wheel Wells done
...along with the new Wing Spar and Rib arrangement
(to accommodate the recessed wheel wells).
Of course, they will need a test build.
The new Landing gear struts are almost sorted as well,
and I will add a full 3D wheel/tire to replace the original Marek style laminated wheel.
Once I get all the new parts figured out, I'll work on the redraw of the kit.
(The redraw is mainly the creation of a new vector layer artwork, for easier repaints. It also makes it easier to tweak parts.)
Anyone who has an interest...and especially anyone who built one of my
earlier P-47s...is invited to make any suggestions for modifications or fixes.
The first gen of this kit was a modified version of an older Marek kit.
And with some more redesign, I came up with the D, M and N versions
including the "razorback" versions.
I think we worked out any kinks in the kit already, but theres always
room for improvement.
Not sure if I will redo all of the existing kits...
I'll probably just focus on best sellers and some new liveries.
We'll see...one step at a time.
