Very nice repaint. I was assigned to the 375th AAW at Scott AFB in the late 80s. Put many an hour onboard the C-9.

The C-9s I flew on didn't have the MAC banner on the top of the tail. Instead, the ones I flew on had an American flag in that position. I believe the aircraft was retired in the paint scheme.

The C-9 was beautiful aircraft to fly on. Very stable...unless you hit a very powerful downdraft. I was on one flight returning to Scott AFB when the pilot announced over the intercom that there would be some very rough air ahead. Rough ain't the word for it. For a while, I was watching things float in the air. Luckily we had no patients and all the crew had strapped in.

After we landed, the pilot told me he pulled out at 1,800 feet. When I asked how high we were when he hit the downdraft, he replied, "A lot higher."

I had a lot of fun times on the Nightingale.

Nice to see the repaint. I believe FG has one also. It was done by Rob Carleen.
