A little more work done on the U-Wing this weekend. I was focusing on the core and how to make the wings moveable.

From the reference photos I could see that there is an extension from the hull that goes into a slot in the wings to hold it into place.

I was using layers of 160gsm cardboard to get the different profiles and the required thickness.

This is the current prototype of the upper assembly on the core structure.


Here the core without the cockpit part. The wing is in closed position (hiding the core extension rail on that side).


In open wing position the extensions become visible. The movement of the wing is constrained by the profile on the back.


There will be parts added that hold the rotation axle and hide the end of the wing on top and bottom. But before I get to that I now need to work on the top/cockpit and bottom/transport room hull assemblies first
