Wikipedia: "The FJ-1 was an early transitional jet of limited success which carried over similar tail surfaces, wing and canopy derived from the piston-engined P-51D Mustang." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_FJ-1_Fury

Good news, if true. However, a look through Paul Matt's U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Fighters, and Jim Mesko's Squadron-Signal pub, FJ Fury in Action reveals nothing about a P-51D canopy being used, and this U.S. Naval Institute blog discussion (https://blog.usni.org/2009/05/04/ori...ican-fj-1-fury) casts doubt. Wish Mike Scalingi (bomarc), the font of all truth and wisdom on anything North American Aviation, were still in the Forum. I'll bet he would know or know how to find out.
