Hi friends. Here's an update.
I have a lot to do, especially keeping my head above water, trying to make ends meet. Finally, today I had some time again to do some model stuff.
Because a change in activities can be refreshing, I decided to work on one of the wheels today.
I already had assembled the frame/chassis of the Zil, and I had the cabin, engine cover and the transport deck added to the frame.
I never did a car or a truck before so this is all new and quite the discovery for me. For that reason too, I really wanted to do a wheel.
These wheels actually are little model kits themselves. the wheel alone has 35 parts, and I still have to do the rim. Most enjoyably, the wheel's side walls could be nicely curved into a bulging shape just like real wheels have. And they have protruding treads on the running surface. These treads all had to be added separately, giving the wheel a great appearance but my fingers also some extra callus... (-; But it was enjoyable nevertheless.
I guess most of the pictures speak for themselves, If something is unclear, I can always answer questions about them.
