for the fun part
after figuring out just where the step for the mast needed to end up
i tacked down the jibs on both sides.. they will need to be cut out and removed before the actual flooring is laid
then i started the cut and fit process to fit the first cross piece
since these pieces are small and straight and tricky to shape, i make them from wood... for the same reasons i make masts and yards from wood
