Good day.
With the armour itself done, figured it was time to start on the base, before continuing.
For the main part of the base I had purchased a 10 x 12 paint panel, but found after building the backdrop screen, it was too small. Went to the art store and purchased a 2nd panel.

Started by gluing these two together to give me a 20" wide base.

When dry I sanded the whole piece.

I was going for a Tatami mat effect for this display.
Using a sushi mat, it was cut to fit the base. This mat was a little short on the length for the base but that's ok.

Then proceeded to glue the mat to a black section of card. This results in a stiffer mat and light blocks the back of the mat. Brown cloth binding tape is then glued to the perimeter of the mat to give the look of a finished Tatami mat.

The base was then painted black and the Tatami mat glued into place.

After the base had all dried. The backdrop screen was then glued into position.

With the base now done and before attaching the armour, the Katana still has to be built.

Thank you for following.
Questions and comments welcome.
