This aircraft has a special interest for me because I flew aboard one of the US-3A cargo versions from the Naval Air Facility Atsugi Japan to USS Carl Vinson in the East Sea/Sea of Japan and return in early 1990. I was the only passenger on board, was given the chance to handle the controls during the flight out, and sat just behind the pilot during the landing and take off (trap and cat). A great experience for an Army guy with a love of airplanes and ships.
So it will be great to see this one take shape.
