Have I been doing this for too long?

While I was showing paper models at the EAA museum, several people asked me, "How long have you been doing this?" I had to think about that.

I built a few paper models in high school but I think it really caught my interest when my 5-year-old daughter and I built a life-size Osprey. She's now 31.

And while I can't really pin down the date, I discovered earlier this month that I have been building paper models long enough to wear out a steel straight-edge. It's edge is no longer straight--I've worn a slight curve into it, enough to be noticeable on a cut. I can't decide whether that's impressive or just nuts.

Good grief!
