Apparently, Manfred von Richtofen painted a bright red his tri-plane, so that the enemy recognized him immediately and was afraid of his valor and skill in combat.
My model will look like this, all red.
It seems more romantic, although it may not be true.

Yes, also German aircraft of WW2 were painted light blue on the underside. It is funny because if one looks at an aircraft flying against the sky it always looks black. Richthofen had several Tri-Planes all of them painted red some with red cowling some with silver cowling.
