Museum ship Joseph Conrad 1:96 scratch build

hi all.
I finally put up an avatar which shows my largest model (1x1), and it flies!

This thread will be my first attempt to do a scratch build, which I approach with considerable apprehension,
and will abandon if it gets too hard or is too ugly.

It will be the sail training ship Joseph Conrad. The ship still exists as a museum ship berthed at Mystic Connecticut USA.
There are plans and photos can be made. (hint hint) It could be made into an excellent card model kit.

I obtained the plans, which are in a strange scale, and had them re-scaled to 1:96.
They actually came out 1:97 which is close enough. As a musician friend of mine says "close enough for jazz".

There are photos on the net of the ship in drydock and I took some recently of her floating.
I will have to upload them later as I forgot that I have to reduce them to 640x480 for upload.

Meanwhile here is a photo of the hull lines I am working off of.
cheers Jim
