More progress, finally. The saucer is all but finished (just needs four small phaser arrays), and then finally I'll be on to the warp nacelles.
Some details to notice:
- RCS Thrusters. I've raised the thruster assemblies from the saucer surface. I'll be doing the same with the thrusters on the warp nacelles. I also used various size of small flathead screwdrivers again to actually press the black inset parts of the thrusters in.
- More consolidated panels. The last consolidated panels I'll have to do for the model, the upper saucer had some large sections of panel that were split up to get the proper shape. Like before, I still built the basic structure as designed, and then added the raised, consolidated panels on top.
- Custom parts. It wouldn't look right to have flat impulse engines with all the other detail, but simply layering them to make them inset wouldn't look right either, so I had to design a shape for them that would allow them to be correctly inset. I also had to cut into the saucer to make room for them after this.
- Deflector. Like I said before, I'm using Zosho's older v.2 of the Sovereign, not the newer v.3 which is larger and has very different details. The one exception is that I decided to take and rescale the deflector from the v.3, since it is both the correct color and substantially better looking. Again, I used small flathead screwdrivers to press in details, though it's hard to turn the ship at an angle where you can tell, due to it's very sleek shape.
