I think that for simple models such as the Mirage, there is no need for a chassis method with disks/formers, that should then be wrapped in paper, it just complicates construction.....And I'm talking about the front section of the model.
In my humble opinion, in such simple models, the method of sectional parts with formers one by one is the easiest and most comfortable.
Good luck later, and I'm sure you can finish the model as needed, despite all the difficulties and inaccuracies of the model.
