Gary:, yes, those were some 2x2 mm wood pieces I had. They were perfect.
dje: I used some silver embroidery thread I already had. Not eager to spend many Euros + shipping only for this project, which I'm intentionally building fast and simple.
I survived the rigging.
From afar it looks good.
But on closer look you can see how rough it really is.
Those were some improvised electrical wire turnbuckles and fasteners.
Detail was lost with the CA glue I applied to secure everything :(
But at least I'm more satisfied with this than with my previous attempt 6 years ago.
Far from polished, and not at all accurate.
But I'm just building to get it done, not for a museum.
I'm sure things will start look much better when the cockpit is completed and the wings assembled.
And since I had never build something like this, I'm learning one or two things in the process. That already is good for me.
