You certainly got yourself into a major project especially if you not using any software to develop surfaces. I think you will have lots of challenges with fitting parts.
secondly, most British WW2 bombers were painted black color on the bottom and that will make any details practically invisible, so my suggestion is to find a color scheme that is lighter on the bottom.
In any case, I would love to see your progress especially the gun turrets and the cabin.
