The model is 80% completed. Only the auxiliary tanks and the small details (aerials, pitot tubes) are missing and will be added when the display stand is built. The magnet(s) I intend to use have been ordered (*) and I am currently thinking about the most suitable shape and material (iron or aluminum rod or pipe, wood, plastic,
?) for the stand.
Overall, the model design and camo rendition are great. To me this is a flashback to the late 70's, when I worked in a radar station (Lucheux North of France) that controlled the planes of the 12e Air Wing based at Cambrai-Epinoy (very close to Lucheux). Quite often we had the opportunity to visit the Cambrai AFB and its SM B-2. I'm pretty sure that I have seen live the real 12-ZJ.
Considering the model, three details are missing : the growing wistle of the ATAR engine starting, the sweet smell of burnt jet fuel and the roaring of the SM-B2 taking off. I watch the model, close my eyes and imagine
I am 40 years younger !
