Quite a bit has occurred since my last post. Unfortunately, I have been away from the computer I use to post my updates. Also, last week I was out of town on business and did not carry the whole project with me.

Anyway, lets get back at it.

First the props and prop shafts and such were installed on the bottom of the hull. The prop shafts were made from wood rod replacing the original paper parts. The propeller hubs were cut from toothpicks (again replacing the paper parts) and everything glued up and installed. Since the props were printed white, I painted them Vallejo bronze. The remaining items were colored with Tamiya Hull red which is VERY close to the printed color.

Next I started installing the Port side details. I find these pieces to vary widely in fit and have found a few mistakes that have been easy to fix so far. One thing that does bother me is that the main box shaped pieces that connect between the hull and deck do not match up well with the marks on the hull sides. I have had to do a large amount of color work to get things to look half decent.

While on my business trip, I did manage to construct the main parts of two of the six aircraft provided. Fit is not good at all on these.

I also made up all the defensive armaments when I got back to my regular bench and proceeded from there.
