I only use brushes for large surfaces or when I glue two sheets together. For all the other stuff I use cocktail sticks. Just a tiny drop of glue (being white PVA - wood glue - or Aleenes tacky stuff) on a piece of paper I have left over and then applying the glue with the cocktail stick.
For doubling paper I also really love my rubber rolling thingy.
