Doug,

I have been using my LED light that I bought at Harbor Freight for the extra light on the subject.
I have been using tweezers in addition to the nipper, and pliers, these tweezers are anti static coated, in black, which help cut down on the glare, and I use the ESD-13 and -14, the -13 is a broad surface tweezer, and the -14 has a wide body, and narrow tips, i get pretty good control with the -14 over the other thin/slim tipped tweezers.

I have even used the handle of my Fiskars craft knife to help "curl" some of the treads for the wheels.
