Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force is indeed an official name. However, NEIAF abbreviation is very popular in historical sources. I think it's correct if we consider the location, in this case Dutch East Indies/Netherlands East Indies(
Nederlands-Oost-Indië). Word "royal'' is rather added if we want to emphasize the affiliation with particular country, in this case
Kingdom of the Netherlands.
So I would say both versions are correct, although they should be understood a bit differently.
Mostly I used this source for that Kittyhawk.
P-40 in the NEIAF
Also several examples in attachments.
