I can only guess from my past experience, that it is because of using a laser printer on Photo paper.
Photo paper is more sensitive to bending.
And the combination of these two things can cause color peels where we bend the papers.
In addition, there are some color protection sprays that also cause color peeling, especially those that are brighter.
