You really need very itttle to make models.
Remember you are going to cut score and glue. You should have basic tools to do this already knocking around.
Cutting - scissors, craft knife scalpel. Steel ruler for straight edges, cuts, scoring. Blunt knife, sharp point for scoring etc.
Start simple and you will soon end up with tools that work for you and "feel right".
