Flying Scotsman

This is my first attempt at a "proper" train and I could be shot for introducing this sort of model !!!

I had thought about making the much more advanced kit but with no experience I decided to aim a little lower. I found this kit in a local shop that specialises in almost toy kits, although some are very complicated, advertising no glue or tools needed. Generally these comments are miles from the mark and parts will not hold together without glue.

Their website is https://www.whirligigtoys.co.uk/ if you are interested.

However, I did see a "3D model Puzzle" that interested me. They had a made up version of The Flying Scotsman that looked as if it had possibilities.

As with most 3D puzzles this kit has many slots and tabs so my aim was to reduce their size and try to hide them as much as possible.

So, here it is. It is about 20 inches long and the base makes it a little longer. It took much longer than the 3 -4 hours mentioned on the box - but still a lot shorter than the "proper card model". It's obviously not as detailed but it still has quite a presence.

For the real enthusiasts, there is more bad news ,,,,,, I've just bought Mallard by the same publishers! (Cheatwell)

Cheers
Mike
