Update on what's going on, I've been trying to decide whether to go with trysail or spencer masts as shown in Chapelle, some models go with this, most that I see did not, it is unusual for a ship to be equipped with them at fore and main, although common at the mizzen where called a driver or spanker mast. Finally think I should stick with Chapelle although will be a bit more work. With this in mind have been making them, and some simple mast step, also need to put in the fife rails then can put up the main stay which it appears goes to the forward one. Waiting on putting in the cabin until can see clearance under the mainstay. Slow progress with having to decide these things as models differ in some of these details, but interesting stuff and Charles Davis is helpful. The mainmast shroud lines will have to wait for some of this..
This drawing appears to show gaff booms that come off the trysail masts..
