Scherft's Tyto alba guttata
Early Johan Scherft's Barn Owl (probably first edited during the nineties) still is an impressive model. I've just finished it as a present for an absolute owl-fanatic.
Scherft's barn owl represents the darker subspecies "tyto a. guttata" of the Netherlands, recognizable especially by its dark coloured face.
IMHO Scherft's done an ingenious job constructing the owl's face: After forming the mostly concave face piece one has to push out the eyes from the rear resulting in an outstanding 3D-effect. I've highlighted this by using nail varnish on eyes and beak (and nails).
