For the wheel housings, I following AirDave's method of using small joining strips made of regular weight paper. I then burnished the housings.
Before adding the joiner strip (parts 15a) to front of the centre wing section (where the wheel housings will be connected), I scored the tabs on these joining strips prior to installation.
