As for the tools of the trade, patience is the most important.
Willingness to have fun follows it closely.

Good scissors and x-acto blades are very useful, as well as a cutting mat and maybe some tweezers.

The type of glue depends a lot on what is available where you live, but standard PVA (white) glue works well most of the times. Some people prefer other glues for different kind of projects, but you'll start developing your preferences as you advance in the hobby.

For scoring lines, anything from a needle or a dry ballpoint pen can work fine (I use both).

And for folding, there are bone folders, rulers, or even dowels and the fingers.

Don't hesitate to ask for advice or suggestions, there's always someone willing to help.
