I have been using Beacon Multi-Grip.
It has a lot of good properties, it is moderately tacky, has a usable working time before setting up, does not smear ink jet printer inks, the excess can be rubbed off without causing a lot of damage to the paper. It can be thinned to desired viscosity with nail polish remover or acetone.
Available at hardware stores and craft stores.
