That brings to mind a little Nieuport 11 kit by Comet which I "spiffed up" in Macon, Georgia, in the 1970s by among other things using thread for the structural rigging inside the fuselage; even in that little thing the humidity changes between summer and the winter furnace caused what I'll call "tissue issues".
(it ended up too heavy to fly right but I was experimenting with detailing, those kits were so economical in those days that one could afford to sacrifice a couple to experiments)
