Actually, inkjet ink soaks into the paper, whereas Laser printer toner sits on top of the paper, most of the default settings in the printer, the temperature is too low to make the toner adhere better, if you change one of the heat settings, you will have the toner adhere stronger to the paper, and will have less chance of the toner flaking off.
But you are correct, toner will take a longer time to fade, but at present many inkjet inks have been rated for 20 or more years before fading, but exposing any toner or ink to sunlight will make the print fade.
