Yoav, regarding your question, for the additional detailing of the cockpit I have used slices of thin plastic rods, make "Evergreen Scale Models" (see picture), with diameters 0.75mm and 0.50mm.
The plastic rods are available in various sizes and for other purposes I also use 1.0 and 1.2mm diameter. Bought them in a local hobbyshop and there are many more varieties to choose from, not only rods but also pipes, beams and the like.
