Mirage IIIc vs FD -2 - A copy or not ?
In 1956 a speed record of mach 1.73 was attained by the british research flane namex Fd-2 ( Fairey Delta 2). Only two protorypes were built and later they served in the Concord development program. Some observers claimed that the developers of the Mirage copied the wing design of the FD-2 . For that reason I took images of the two side by side. The FD-2 had a very nice
feature that allowed the pilot to lower the mfront part of the plane for a better sight during landing.
