"My question was about whether Orlik's scheme existed at all..." Yes & no. The model, of course, is of the first prototype #278845 which differed from #46 and #47 in small mods as well as livery. The fuselage markings of the kit show #45 during a transition period from one style national insignia to another and re-placing of the a/c serial to the aft fuselage. I found this, during a Google/quickie-wiki search, to be accurate. However, at no time, would the "new" star & bar national insignia be found, on this aircraft, at any time, on the top of the right wing. Just sayin....
And, yes, your efforts here are much better than were Curtiss's there. Bydand,
