Sabre Strike Tank

After finishing the Fire Raptor, I wanted to see if I could build a model from scratch in a relatively short period of time.

Seeing as the Fire Raptor took about a year to finish, but was a very complex model to which I added a bunch of modifications, I wanted to see if I could build a model with minimal modifications, and do it quickly.

For this build I chose the Sabre Strike tank which ARMORMAN had previously posted to his megathread. I started on February 22nd, and finished just about a month later on March 19th. To be fair, I had a week's worth of no hobby time due to work, so it would have been finished even quicker

I used heavy chipboard for the basic frame and armor plating, and index card for details. Also, as usual, plastic rod, drinking straws and some odds and ends for finer details. The outsize rivets and thicker armor gives it a chunky look that I like.

For the tracks, I built a couple of master treads, then made a silicon mold and cast a bunch of them in resin, similar to the tracks I made for my Land Raider. This went super fast.

The main cannon has these coils, which I made from electrical wire, and I modified the mount so that it looks truer to the original model. I also added a magnet inside the mount, so that the cannon can slide up and down, making it a bit more pose-able.

Hope you like it!
