The Israeli Air Force Mystere encounter more than once with the Egyptian's Mig -17's and always wone the battle - why ?
The Mystere is somehow inferior to the Mig because it doesn't have an after burner like the Mig -17. This give the Mig better level speed of Mach 0.97 vs 0.92 of the Mystere at low level and much the same at height - also the climb rate of 13000 feet vs 9000 of the Mystere.
In various air battles Mystere pilot were able to shootdown 4 Mig -17's without a lose !
Reason was simple - the better training of the Israelian Pilots.
