It's probably safe to say that the vast majority of our fellow paper modeling enthusiasts do NOT live in the US. Therefore, I'd suggest that you do provide both sizes.
Lots of designers choose to combine the two sizes and build their parts sheets to the limited parameters of the common, combined sizes. However, this does leave a bit of what I would call valuable unused space, when printed on either size.
I plan to do what Cannon does, create a separate pdf each for both letter and A4 for my own designs.
Would any of those three ship designs you're working on happen to be paddle wheel steamers?
They're my all time favorite.
