Erik and Sergio - the Phantom is a very special fighter and it's shape is powerful. I served in the IAF and worked on the weapon delivery system AVIONICS of the F-4E Phantom 4 years as duty service and six years for two months each year as a reservist 1977 - 1987. The service of the Phantom in the IAF is full with many excellent operations as bombing the Sirian head quarter in Damasque in Yom
Kippur war and strategic deep bombing in Egypt and no less than 120 Arab downed planes !!!
The IAF Phantom served between 1969 - 2004 for 35 years.
I always have warm feelings regarding the Phantom and to see it takeoff at night with two afterburners glowing 30 meter above the head during night flights was astonishing !!!
