If I listened correctly, think they said they were a "show" that was paid money to perform at the race tracks.

The rocket itself sounds safe, a tie-rod broke, that is what caused the crash. Does not look like it was rebuilt, as it killed the driver.

It does mention anybody that has seriously hot rodded a VW Beetle soon run into hi speed aerodynamic issues. They were doing close to 200mph in a 1/4 mile.

Have owned several VW's through the years. Started with a 1959 Window Van, 1300cc engine ($350 money paid 1978).
