the second of three frigates to served in the Israeli Navy. The frigate arrived in Haifa on April 28, 1949.
Originally the frigate named HMCS Violetta served in the Canadian Navy. During World War II she served in convoys. After a general renovation and installation of cannons in 1952
During the Sinai War in 1956, the ship was stationed off the coast of Gaza, on the night of October 30, the ship was called to Haifa to help subdue the Egyptian destroyer Ibrahim al-Awell, but due to high speed, a pressure pipe was damaged and one of the mechanics on the ship was severely damaged. During the war, the ship was intended to attack Gaza and Egypt, but due to a lack of proper navigation systems and ammunition, the operation was canceled several times
Hercules' voyage - On November 12, 1956, the ship made a long voyage, encircling the African continent on a voyage through the Egyptian Tiran and arriving in Eilat on December 25, 1956. This enabled the opening of the Red Sea to Israeli shipping.

The frigate was taken out of service in 1959 and was sold to the Sri Lankan Navy and shipped to the port of Trincomalee
