Wether or not the drawings of the ‘Roter Loewe’ (and for that matter of the 'Golden Hind' and the 'Revenge' from the same book) are correct is not up to me to decide. They refer to an era of which no scientific sources about shipbuilding exist. That implies that both the drawings of these three ships, including the 'Roter Loewe' and those of four other (Dutch) ships in the book 'Risse von Schiffe des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts' are entirely the product of the phantasy (or the genius) of the author(s). Nevertheless they served as a source for many model builders who were unaware of their questionable quality and may have served as a good start for some who long for better sources. And as long as we have no evidence about the real ‘Roter Loewe’ and other 16th century ships, we cannot say how she should have looked and how much the drawings differ from the real ship. This in contradiction to the other four (Dutch) ships in the book, the ‘Fleute Derfflinger’, the yacht ‘Grosse Yacht’, the ‘Fregatte Berlin’ and the war ship ‘Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde’. They are all completely useless.
