Lots of pretty birds up here. Take a boat ride out of Seward, see Puffins and plenty other types of shore birds.

When I lived in Kenai, used to have a Cardinal that used to hang out in the birch tree in full view from front living room Every year it would show up. Recently asked my friend who bought my old home about it, he says he sees one or two every year.

Local High School uses them as the team name, Kenai Cardinals.

I'm really impressed with the Arctic Terns. Worked at the port of Anchorage for awhile. Lots of gravel in the work yard. Had to be careful, they get real aggressive when protecting their nests.

Kittiwakes, different types of seagulls, tremendous amount of water fowl-except when they decide to land at the same time I'm planning to on the same runway. Bunch of whooping cranes almost got me.
We even have humming birds up here in the summer.

Awesome to look up sometimes to see what is around.

Most acrobatic ones are the Snipe.

Mike
