Like Don I seem to have missed this thread last year. I was particularly interested to see the model of the Flettner Rotor vessel Buckau. Pages 11 and 10 respectively. The first vessel to be fitted with this form of auxiliary propulsion.

As far as I know there is only one other commercial paper/card model displaying this technology. The 1926 Barbara by Wilhelmshavener.

Over a hundred years on and with the present interest in sustainable carbon free energy a few companies are showing renewed interest in it. Though still only installed on a handful of vessels to date. Today we have the advantage of computerisation and satellites, sensors, GNSS and sophisticated weather forecasting
