What about an intermediately difficult version? Perhaps one conic and one cylinder on each side? Your model looks great so far!

Thanks for the kind comments.
I just threw a few of the parts through pepakura to see how the resolution of the textures holds up. They are still a work in progress, but they look ok to me. I think I may do two versions of the engine ports and the landing gear: 'easy' and 'less easy' then I can decide which one to build later. Anyway, I've got to get back to decorating the house now (my other 'hobby') Here is the Pep output test in pdf form: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10006067/test%20001.pdf

Great project - you have my admiration ( I hope that this sentence has the same meaning as in the czech :P )

It looks really, really good. I would build it immediately with these textures.

I am sorry to necro this thread, but I happened upon this on the search for models of the district 9 dropship, and I absolutely fell in love with your paper model. Seeing as this seemed pretty close to a finish, I just wanted to ask if you ever saw this project through, or, if not, if there are any more complete files than the ones in this thread.
Thanks in advance and again, I really admire what you did here and I'd love to build one. |

Hi Niart, welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, it never got finished. I got bogged-down with how to make the landing gear easy to build, but representative of the original and went through three or four attempts, then lost interest. A while ago, a pepakura upgrade allowed for higher res textures. So I went back to finishing the textures, at which point, Paint Shop Pro decided to corrupt some of the files I was using and I had to start them again. at which point I really lost interest. Since then I have had a new job, the kids are teenagers and I just don't have the time (or energy). Maybe in 15 years, (if I am allowed to retire), I can take it up again. Meanwhile I do peek into Papermodelers occassionally and am still blown away by the incredible work that is posted on the site.

I can totally relate to limited time....why not post the original files and let other members finish it for you?
