Any Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy fans with caricature skills?

As above.

Don't know about you, but I was thinking the other day that I would 'LOVE' to have a set of the original BBC cast members as caricature bobble heads/head knockers, and who knows, maybe there are some of you talented guys out there that would love that too.

Now, I've no idea if it can be done to any reasonable degree, but maybe if a few folks on here can collaborate with my good-self, who knows?

First job however would be to get a reasonably good caricatures of the characters. I've already found a 'reasonable' one of Arthur, and Marvin I can manage :D

Just to stress - I'm really not looking for great artwork, just someone with a good caricature-eye that can produce a good outline from which to move to 3D (again, a degree of assistance may be required )

Anyway, photos I have selected are as follows:
H2G2 pictures by Molderoid - Photobucket

So who knows, maybe a fan(s) with skills will step forward to assist?

Failing that I may have to have a go at it myself, but I can't promise it will be pretty:
Download Caricatures and Elastic Faces 2.1 Free Trial - Caricatures and Elastic Faces is an application that creates caricatures from any picture - Softpedia

Regards

Joe.

A caricature of Arthur Dent I found on the web......

I am playing with the idea of building some head knockers in card (card is all I can do :D)

I've done some kit designs in the past, and it's bloody hard for an amateur 3D modeller like me. The Hako stuff is pretty cool and simple, but lack a little too much detail for my tastes.

I know the H2G2 characters from the beeb are not the easiest place to start, but I've kind'a piqued my own curiosity.

Going to pull my finger out and finish my Stimpy kit first, so I'm just sowing the seeds of a new idea, and looking for possible collaborators...?

Anyway, just a twinkle in my eye ATM, but we shall see

Regards

Joe.

In fact someone did some Hako H2G2 characters for both the BBC series and the post-Adams movie (bleuch) - anyone got the link?

Oh and this model of the guide itself is pretty cute too

The new movie wasn't really that bad. Also, Adams did help write the script for the movie well before the release, but of course he died before it was released. I wouldn't call it post-Adams.

Hey - you liked it and that's cool, but I don't think the film would have hit the cinemas had Adams not died, though to be fair if Adams was still alive we would still probably not have a movie.

For me it just lost too much of the good stuff and had too much crap - only seen it once but the queue in the vogon planning office and all the other pointless crap spring to mind as pure time-filler.

Even Rikman and Mirran seemed simply to be paying the rent, and Stephen Fry ain't no Peter Jones - John Hurt would have been far better IMO.

Also their failure to integrate the guide into the movie kind'a ticked me of i.e. movie, movie stops - they show the guide, movie starts again etc. why not have the guide as a hologram display so we dont have to leave the cast every 15 minutes, or at least maintain a musical link to try hide the joins better. Seriously the Beeb did better for me.

Anyway that's my 2p and yeah - that's right -I'm a bitch - what of it? :D

Nonono, thats alright. I understand that everyone has different tastes and certain things appeal to them more than others. I just kinda shoved it down your throat saying you were"wrong" when all you stated was an opinion. Sorry about that.

No problem whatsoever - Taste's a very personal thing.

I reckon expectation has an impact too - for the hardcore fans of the book and radio series I guess the movie was never going to be all we had hoped

Okay - decided to sod it and try out a few caricaturists on the web on the budget end. Chose Ford as he has a very plain face. Results were varied...

All I can say is that the one bottom-right is bloody brilliant - needless to say I shall be using his services on the other characters

Stay tuned....
